1. Why was the Sultan in a hurry?

Ans: The Sultan had an affair of the greatest importance. He had to go out at noon.

2. What were the things the barber got from the Sultan?

Ans: The barber got three pieces of gold, food and some fruit for the dessert.

3. Why did the Barber take so long to shave the Sultan?

Ans: The barber took so long to shave the Sultan because he talked non-stop instead of shaving the Sultan.

4. Why did the barber want a lot of food?

Ans: The barber had invited four or five friends to his home and he had not made any arrangements for their food so he wanted a lot of food for them.

5. Do you think the Sultan was really very generous? Why do you think so?

Ans: The Sultan was not really very generous because he didn’t offer any gold or food being so kind but desperately only to get rid of from the barber.

Gulliver’s Travels

1. Who was Gulliver? How did he reach the land of giants?

Ans: Gulliver was a sailor. He was sent by his captain to fetch water but unfortunately, he found himself in the land of giants.

2. Why did the captain send the men to the land?

Ans: The captain sent the men to fetch water.

3. What kind of lady was the farmer’s wife? How do you know?

Ans: The farmer’s wife was very kind-hearted. She gave him crumbled bread to eat, put him in her own bed and covered him with a white handkerchief.

4. What did the giant farmer’s son do with Gulliver?

Ans: The giant farmer’s son grabbed him from the table and put his head into his mouth.

Nobody’s Friend

1. Why are the two children nobody’s friends?

Ans: The two children are nobody’s friends because they do not want to share their belongings with anybody.

Ans: The girl doesn’t want to share her sweets, book and doll.

3. Why is the child in the last stanza everybody’s friend?

Ans: The child in the last stanza wants to share her sweets, book, games, apple and cake. So she is everybody’s friend.

Ans: All the children hated Hari because he used to hurt them by teasing, pinching and pricking.

5. Write any two suitable sentences about Hari.

Ans: Hari was a bully. He used to tease, pinch and prick all the children with a pin. He was hated by all the children for his behaviour.

6. How did the sea animals teach Hari a lesson?

Ans: The sea animals like a monster crab, a sandy lobster and other creatures pinched and nipped Hari with their pincer like claws very hard and taught Hari a lesson.
